3D Secure Program

Online transactions are becoming more and more popular but the level of credit card fraud is higher in case when a credit card is not physically involved. That’s why some additional fraud prevention measures are used for online transactions. Namely, it can be 3D Secure. What is 3D secure, and what is the purpose of using it?

3D Secure is a special XML-based protocol, intended to provide the higher security level for online credit and debit card transactions due to the additional authentication step added. But for 3D Secure to be enabled two things must happen: the issuing bank and the cardholder need to be enrolled in the 3D Secure Program.
